Method
Step 1: Halve the Avocados
- Start by slicing each avocado in half lengthwise. Watch those fingers! Once they're split, gently twist them to separate the two halves. Carefully remove the pit using a spoon or fork.
Step 2: Scoop Out the Flesh
- Using a spoon, scoop the avocado flesh from each half into a food processor. Ensure you get all that green goodness, leaving none behind!
Step 3: Add Ingredients to the Processor
- Now it’s time to add all your ingredients—a tablespoon of lime juice for zing, the olive oil for smoothness, along with garlic powder, sea salt, black pepper, chopped cilantro, and red pepper flakes if you’re feeling spicy.
Step 4: Blend for Smoothness
- Put the lid on the food processor and pulse until everything is blended into a creamy consistency. You want it to be smooth and well-combined. Don’t forget to scrape down the sides if needed—nobody wants lumps in their spread!
Step 5: Taste and Adjust
- Give your spread a taste! Depending on your preference, you may want to add a bit more salt or lime juice to suit your palate's desires. Blend again until combined.
Notes
- Use ripe avocados: Choose avocados that have some give when you press them lightly but aren’t too mushy.
- Add the lime juice immediately: This helps prevent the avocados from browning quickly.
- Chill before serving: Putting the spread in the fridge for 30 minutes before serving can enhance the flavors.
- Feel free to customize: Experiment with different spices or herbs like dill, parsley, or even mint for an unexpected twist.
- Don't skimp on the olive oil: A good quality extra virgin olive oil makes a noticeable difference in flavor and texture.
